The nonprofit behind petOffenders

petOffenders is not a company and was not built by one. It is a project of Louisiana Husky Rescue, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Lafayette, Louisiana, and it is run by the same people who run the rescue.

Where this came from

Louisiana Husky Rescue has been pulling huskies out of bad situations in south Louisiana since 2019. Somewhere around year three a pattern got impossible to ignore: the same yards, the same chains, a different dog. Somebody always already knew — a neighbour, a volunteer, someone who commented on a post when it went up. The knowledge existed. It just did not survive anywhere.

petOffenders is the shared memory that was missing. Everything about how it treats a report — read by a person, checked against public records, tiered by the strength of its evidence, published only as an anonymised dot — comes from having been on the other side of that gap for years.

How it is paid for

Donations, sponsorship, and the filing contribution. Nothing here is sold: access to the record is not a product, organisations are not charged for it, and no one profits from what gets filed. Searching is free and will stay free. The contribution attached to filing exists to keep fabricated reports out — the reasoning is set out in full here. You can also sponsor the work.

Don’t take our word for it

Anyone can claim nonprofit status on a web page. These are the places you can check ours without asking us.

petOffenders is not a law-enforcement agency and a report is not a finding of guilt. If an animal is in immediate danger, contact your local law enforcement or animal control first. For how the registry works, see About.
